FreeNAS 8.3-BETA 1 with ZFS v28

Shortly after FreeNAS 8.2.0 with plugin support the developers are now bringing out the first beta version of FreeNAS 8.3, based on FreeBSD 8.3-RELEASE-p7. Also new is a new ZFS version, 28th, which brings new filesystem features and a possible performance boost.

After the plugins run in their own jail, they will work with the new FreeNAS version without any updates. As always with beta software, you should be careful not to use them on production servers - once you have updated to the new version of the file system, there is no going back to the previous version. Fortunately, it's an optional step, the upgrade tool doesn't make the changes to the filesystem automatically, instead the process must be initiated via the Command Line Interface (CLI).
