Router obligation ends on 01 August 2016

The already passed law against router coercion will be published in the Federal Law Gazette on Friday - thus ending the transition period of six months on 01 August 2016

By this date at the latest, all prodivers, i.e. both DSL and cable providers, must provide the data required for Internet dial-up. A passive network termination point is prescribed for both network variants, i.e. no extra device may be prescribed by the network operator. Especially the cable network operators like Vodafone (formerly Kabel Deutschland) had protested against this change, as there would allegedly be problems with the quality of the network.
