Samsung has made the promise and released an update to Android 2.2 for the high-end smartphone Galaxy S. This must be available via Samsung's own Update software can be installed, but at least there is an official update at all. Of course, the new features like the Flash 10.1 support and the general speed improvements are included, so as a user you should not miss the update.
If Samsung takes the lead in terms of Android updates (which all manufacturers are still struggling with), this could have a positive effect on sales figures - especially interested customers will hopefully make sure that the current Android version runs on their device.
