Apparently, even the purchase of a device directly from Google is no guarantee to get software updates together with the other customers: Buyers who bought their Nexus One through Vodafone will have to be patient. According to Vodafone, it will still take about 2 weeks until the review of the update to Android 2.2 is completed.
The network operators probably have a stomach ache from the possibility of turning the mobile phone into a hotspot via tethering and letting others participate in their own data tariff. This function should not be deactivated, but it should be billed separately - apparently it makes a difference for the network operators whether one device uses the inclusive volume or several. In any case, another source of income has opened up for the network operators.
