Sony Xperia Tablet Z: thin and waterproof

With the Xperia Tablet Z, Sony brings to the Xperia Z Smartphone matching tablet. The special features: a thickness of only 6.9 millimeters and IP67 certification. The latter means that the tablet can survive a bath in one meter of water for 30 minutes without damage. This makes it ideal, for example, if you are taking a bath and don't want to do without the Internet even then.

But the remaining data are also solid, such as t3n.de reports1.5 GHz Qualcomm quad-core CPU, 2 GB RAM, display with 1,920×1,200 pixels resolution and slot for micro SD cards. In addition to a WLAN version, there will also be an LTE version, which will of course be more expensive. Sony can afford the tablet, which will be delivered with Android 4.1.2. and will receive an update to 4.2.2, quite expensively: the prices start at 499 euro for the Xperia Tablet Z with 16 GB and WLAN, 639 euro will become due for the Xperia's variants with LTE. Sales start in the second quarter of 2013 - more details are not yet known.

My opinion: what has been shown so far and is known, the Sony Xperia Tablet Z is a really exciting device, which seems to be well equipped for everyday life with its water and dust protection. Apple will have a hard time keeping the lead of the iPad with such devices. The Xperia Z is already listed at Amazon, for the RRP of 639 euro: Sony Xperia Tablet Z at Amazon.com.
