Motorola Milestone - a paper launch?

Officially, the Motorola Milestone is in stores as of today, but it seems to be a paper launch - the reports in relevant forums speak a clear language, the Android 2.0 mobile phone is not yet available for sale.

Obviously the mobile phone manufacturers outside of Apple have problems coordinating their delivery and the marketing department - it can't be that difficult to have a device in the shops at the right (aka "announced") date. If you don't know it, you'll just have to announce it later or put it on the market as a surprise. Apple shows how it's done.
